Ayer/Yesterday, our grade 6 classes had the opportunity to attend the annual Explorando el Español at the Central Public Library. CBE and the Catholic district organize this grade 6 yearly opportunity for students to engage in several workshops, with the Spanish Language and Culture at the forefront. In addition, students had the chance to speak Spanish with students from various schools meaningfully and authentically. James, a grade 6 student, said, “I liked the acting workshop because they taught us how to act in different ways, I got to meet and work with students from other schools.” Another grade 6 student, Brooke, said, “I really liked the 2D animation workshop as they spoke in Spanish and taught us the basic skills to create animation on paper that was unique and special to me.”

La próxima semana/Next week will undoubtedly be exciting as students will be welcomed to celebrate Día de Muertos and Halloween and have the opportunity to attend the School Society's Halloween School Dance. If you would like to know what Día de los Muertos is, please watch this YouTube clip for kids: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMzSsTrs4Gs

We appreciate the parent volunteers who decorated our hallways with fun theme images to celebrate this week. Furthermore, our Latin residency will begin with Kindergarten, grade 3 and 5 classes! Again, we appreciate our School Society for funding this valuable physical and social activity.
