SABES QUE JAN 29, 2026
This afternoon, I asked students over the PA system the question, Hay Escuela mañana? / Translation- Is there school tomorrow? I heard them from my office them saying, "Noooo!!!!!" Then they chanted the song “Mañana no hay escuela, mañana no hay escuela”. A song they should all know. I encourage you to ask your children to chant it for you. It is a fun way to help students remember that there is no school the next day and to remind their families. Tomorrow, all CBE languages teachers and administration will meet at Crescent Heights High School for the 2026 Languages Symposium. Teachers will have various opportunities to increase their professional competency in a variety of workshops that will support their teaching practice and, hence, better serve your children.
We have started the countdown for the Spanish Dance residency: 4 days remain, and Havana Dance Studio will be here on Monday to lead us with enthusiasm, rhythm, and dance.
Currently, the school offers a combined grade 5/6 structure due to student numbers and funding constraints. This structure has shown success with students and teachers. This structure is not unique to our school and is also found in sister Spanish bilingual schools and in schools across all Alberta districts. At the beginning of May, we will hold an engagement process to discuss our school numbers and budget, and how these will guide our conversations on school structures for grades 5 and 6 for the 2026/27 school year. My decision as Principal will be guided by CBE protocols and processes, with consideration of the voices of students, parents, staff, and CBE. As a school, we will evaluate the best structure to sustain high academic performance.
Yesterday, we had our CBE Area 6 Educational Director come for a formal visit. At that time, we celebrated our strong academic performance, evidenced by our very high grade 6 PATS and early years assessments. We provided our school structures that support student learning and outlined plans to continue achieving our School Development Plan in biliteracy and Well-being.
Today is Srta. Gamundi’s last day with her Kindergarten classes. Srta. will be furthering her education in early years with a specific area of specialization. In her role, we will have Sr. Delgado, a tenured teacher from Spain with early teaching experience.
Tengan un lindo fin de semana largo/have a nice long weekend!

PROJECT KINDNESS IS BACK ✨
The Project Kindness is a school-wide initiative rooted in care, compassion, and community. It’s a way for us to quietly support families in our school who may be facing financial challenges, and to remind one another that we’re all in this together 🤍.
Throughout the month of February, we invite families to donate any unused gift cards they may have. These simple gestures can make a meaningful difference and will be shared with care within our school community 🤝.
We’ll be kicking things off at the Amigos Dance next week, with a donation box available that evening. The box will then remain in the school office for the rest of February for anyone who wishes to contribute.
Thank you for helping spread kindness, generosity, and warmth—one small act at a time. 💛
