Principal’s Message

Queridas familias:

The Halloween dance was a great success.  Families had a great time dancing to latin music!  A huge thank you to our School Society and all parent volunteers who made this event fun for all ages!

You may have heard we have experienced vandalism in all bathrooms in the past few weeks.  Some vandalism includes carving inappropriate words on walls and bathroom stalls. CBE has come into the school to fix the vandalism quickly, but they can not keep up.  It is undoubtedly a costly problem for all.  Teachers have brought it to the classrooms with mini-lessons. I have spoken with groups of students who have visited the bathrooms, and visited classrooms to speak about the problem and how actions impact others.  All classrooms have a sign-out sheet for students going to the bathroom so that we can monitor and possibly identify the student(s). This coming Monday, students will be given the opportunity to show that they are against vandalism by helping staff get rid of some graffiti and make posters in the learning commons at their recess.  This social justice opportunity is optional and not mandated.  Students are excited about the opportunity to share their feelings safely and respectfully.  We ask for your support by bringing up the topic at home, hearing how your children feel, and seeing if they have other great ideas.

We have a new CBE Acknowledgement of the Land.  We are committed to Truth and Reconciliation.  As part of this commitment, we also have a school goal to be able to learn how to accurately say the names of the various Indigenous groups and places to honour and respect them.  As second language learners, we know that our staff and students will quickly achieve success in attaining this goal.

On Monday, we are fortunate to have in-line skating at our gym!  Another huge gracias to our School Society for fully funding this fun life experience that promotes coordination and exercise!

We continue to be honoured to serve your children and work collaboratively with each family.  We are in this together!

Tengan un lindo fin de semana.
