Queridas familias:
El próximo miércoles/Next Wednesday is picture day!!! We love to see how proud and comfortable our students are on this special day. This is just a friendly reminder to speak with your child(ren) about attire, including hats, jackets, etc., since no staff will be responsible for this.
Estamos encantados/We're thrilled to see our students demonstrating increased respect, leadership, and well-being in our school. This is evident from the numerous Escuela Glenmeadows Certificates of Recognition presented to students from kindergarten to grade 6. We encourage your child(ren) to bring all their well-earned certificates for a classroom draw by next Friday. One lucky student per class (monthly) can appear in a picture with other K-6 students. The group picture will have the beautiful and colourful avian wings right outside the office doors, with the title, “We’re all in this together”/”Estamos Unidos.” All certificates will be returned to students after the draw.
Tu te preguntarás/You may wonder where your lunch activity fees go. Some funds go to inclement weather indoor table games, recess equipment, walkie-talkies, supervision vests for supervisors, and many others. We are pleased to share with you that we bought two large equipment bins stocked with various recess equipment that students enjoy daily. One bin is in the compound, and the other is by the soccer field.

Picture Day is coming!
All students will be photographed on Wednesday, October 9. Please notify your teacher if you do not want an individual picture taken of your child. All students will be included in a group picture.
Lifetouch will send picture proofs home a few days after Picture Day. You will be able to review and purchase your pictures on mylifetouch.ca
As some students like to wear their caps/hats these days, we ask that you please speak with your child(ren) about whether they will wear one or not. Please know that photographers nor school staff will not monitor the use of caps/hats.
Picture retakes will take place November 6, for students who miss the first date or wish to get their photo retaken.

Casino Fundraiser Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers for Escuela Glenmeadows' 2024 Casino Fundraiser. This is a great way to support our school as it is the largest fundraiser we have. Please refer to the information below and click the link to pick your role (no training is required; and it is a fun day / night out).

Healthy Hunger
Don’t forget to register for Healthy Hunger, save yourself making a few lunches this year and support the school society! To set up and order food for the weeks to come, first set up an account for your child(ren) through the Healthy Hunger website.
The deadline for next week’s (Wednesday October 9) order is Friday, October 4 at midnight.
Halloween Dance Pizza Orders
Tickets to the event are sold out. For those who received a confirmation email, we will be putting the dance up on Healthy Hunger today or tomorrow, for you to order your pizzas. Please only order if you got tickets to the event. We will be checking all names and doing returns for those that did not get tickets. Thank you.
Halloween Dance: Important Ticket Information
As we prepare for the Halloween Dance on October 24th, we want to acknowledge the concerns some parents have shared about ticket availability and fairness. We deeply appreciate your feedback and understand how important it is for every student to feel included.
Due to safety protocols, we have a strict limit of 500 attendees, including students and immediate families. This limit is in place to ensure the safety of everyone involved, and it’s a responsibility we take seriously.
We know it’s disappointing when not all students can attend, and we’re committed to doing everything we can to make the process as fair and transparent as possible. For future events, we welcome your ideas on how we can improve and ensure everyone has the best experience.
For those who couldn’t secure tickets this time, we’re truly sorry and appreciate your understanding. Thank you for your support as we work together to create fun, safe, and inclusive events for all our students.
We invite you to join us at our upcoming School Council / Parent Society meeting on October 8 at 6 pm (with free babysitting provided) to discuss this further and share your thoughts. Your voice matters, and your input will help shape future events.

If you've been wanting to get more involved, we are looking for a new Secretary, and there's always room for more to join key committees. Whether you’re passionate about the arts, STEM, or helping plan the Grade 6 Farewell, there’s a place for you. This is your chance to connect with other engaged parents and make a meaningful impact on the Glenmeadows community.
Our School Council and Society meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 PM, with occasional adjustments for holidays and special events. Here are the upcoming meeting dates for 2024:

Parent Engagement Night in coming next month, this special event is focused on exploring CBE resources that can support both your child's learning at home and their success in the classroom. It's a great chance to connect with other parents and guardians, hear from an inspiring speaker, and discover meaningful ways to get involved in our school community.

Can you help? | Halloween Dance Decorations
Halloween Dance is only 7 weeks away (October 24), and our amazing team of volunteers is already working on making it awesome. We’re collecting Milk jugs in any size to help with our decoration plans. If you could rinse your milk jugs and bring them to the school that would be a huge help.
