Principal's Message

Fue estupendo/It was great seeing families yesterday and today during the Meet the Teacher days.  Our year theme is “We’re in this together”/”Estamos Unidos”. We know that it takes a village to raise a child. We are all, individually and collaboratively committed to be part of a team that will support our “Camino a la Excelencia/Path to Excellence” for all students at our school.

Yesterday and today, I heard great things from parents/guardians and students about how wonderful their teachers are. The sentiment is undoubtedly reciprocal, with teachers and staff being thankful for the amazing children and families at Escuela Glenmeadows School. We have a great year ahead of us to ensure teaching and learning are at the forefront within a safe, caring and welcoming environment.

This past Thursday we held our Orange Shirt Day.  Yet another opportunity to support Truth and Reconciliation in our school, community and nation. Students engaged in historical facts, learning tasks and reflections that will lead to societal change.

The Terry Fox run was a huge success due to the great planning of our P.E. committee and all the volunteers and families who came to cheer on students!

Tengan un lindo fin de semana largo/Have a great long weekend!

Sr. Suarez

Principal

Picture Day is coming!

All students will be photographed on Wednesday, October 9. Please notify your teacher if you do not want an individual picture taken of your child. All students will be included in a group picture.

Lifetouch will send picture proofs home a few days after Picture Day. You will be able to review and purchase your pictures on mylifetouch.ca

As some students like to wear their caps/hats these days, we ask that you please speak with your child(ren) about whether they will wear one or not.  Please know that photographers nor school staff will not monitor the use of caps/hats.

Picture retakes will take place November 6, for students who miss the first date or wish to get their photo retaken.

Apple Fundraiser is ON!!

We are very pleased to announce that this year we will be running an exciting new fall fundraiser! We have partnered up with a distinguished Okanagan orchard to sell their delicious farm-fresh apples. These are not just the ordinary apples we are used to getting in our grocery stores. This century-old family farm has won all kinds of major awards for their fruit. They won the prize for growing the best apples in Canada for eight straight years. These are the highest quality apples available anywhere. And because we’re sourcing them directly from the farm, you get to buy them at below grocery store prices.

You’ll get the best apples you’ve ever eaten… and save some money. Plus, with each box sold Glenmeadows School will raise $8-10. The funds we raise are so important for providing additional school resources that will enrich and enhance our kids’ academic, physical and social growth. We ask that you please consider sharing this fundraiser sale with your nearby friends and family.

Apples are far-and-away the most popular fruit in Canada, so it’s highly likely that you have many apple lovers in your life. They’ll want to know about this deal. Everything is done online, so you won’t have to deal with any of the hassles of collecting money or keeping records.

All you need to do is share a link via email or text message. It’s sweet and simple and only takes a couple minutes of your time. You can find out more by clicking this link:
