PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Fue/It was great to see our Escuela Glenmeadows school family attend the Meet the Teacher night and day. Meet the Teacher Day provided families and teachers with an important opportunity to begin the school year with positive, two-way communication. It helped families understand classroom expectations, routines, learning goals, and ways to support their child, while allowing teachers to learn more about each student’s strengths, interests, and needs. Most importantly, it helps build trust and partnership between home and school, creating a strong foundation for student learning, belonging, and success throughout the year.
Estamos/We are grateful to our School Council and Society parents for the lovely dinner they provided before our Meet the Teacher Day/Evening. Teachers said that parent's love and care is felt and the food was delicious. Muchas gracias familias.
Este mes/This month, we collaborated with our School Council and Society to establish common goals and ways we can support students, teachers, and families. We had a strong turnout during our last meeting, with many new families in attendance. Many new members took new roles, and we are excited to work with each one of them in their various roles.
At Escuela Glenmeadows School, a strong partnership between the school and School Council creates a shared commitment to student success and strengthens connections among the school, families, and the broader community. The school brings professional educational expertise and an understanding of student learning and school priorities, while School Council brings parent perspectives, community connections, volunteer support, and valuable ideas.
When we work collaboratively, we can:
- Strengthen student learning and well-being by aligning parent and school efforts around meaningful priorities.
- Build a stronger sense of belonging by creating opportunities for families to be actively involved in school life.
- Enhance school experiences through events, enrichment opportunities, resources, and community partnerships.
- Improve communication and trust by creating meaningful two-way dialogue between families and the school.
- Use resources effectively by coordinating fundraising, volunteer efforts, and school initiatives around identified student needs.
- Celebrate and strengthen school culture by bringing families, staff, and students together around shared experiences.
Ultimately, our School Council and the school are most effective when they see themselves as partners with complementary roles. The goal is not for one group to direct the other, but to work together, within their respective responsibilities, to create the best possible environment for students to learn, belong, feel supported, and succeed.
Hablando de/Speaking of amazing parents, we are thankful to a handful of parent volunteers who came to beautify the front of the school by cleaning areas, pulling weeds, and placing fine gravel and mulch! The school looks amazing because of your hard work!
Un recordatorio/A friendly reminder that when students come to and from school, it is the responsibility of parents to observe their children and any possible challenges they may have with other children. Some parents have tried to speak directly with children about their behaviour. We encourage parents to speak with adults or seek school support when we are available. Together, we can create a sense of safety and respect for all.

SCHOOL UPDATES
ORANGE SHIRT DAY
On Tuesday, September 29, students and staff are encouraged to wear orange in recognition of Orange Shirt Day. Wearing orange honours Survivors of residential schools, remembers the children who never returned home, and acknowledges the lasting impacts of residential schools on Indigenous families and communities.
The orange shirt is a symbol that Every Child Matters.
As a school community, we will continue learning, reflecting, and taking meaningful steps on our path toward Truth and Reconciliation.
