SCHOOL UPDATES
NO DOGS ON THE SCHOOL PROPERTY
A friendly reminder that dogs are not allowed on school grounds in accordance with the City of Calgary Bylaw with the exception of accredited Service Dogs accompanying an individual on school property. This includes dogs on leash. Please keep your furry friends away from the school for the safety of the students and your pets.
PREPARE FOR THE RAINY WEATHER
Don’t let a little bit of rain ruin a fun recess break. We do send students outside for recess when it is raining (unless it’s a torrential downpour), so please send appropriate outdoor clothing so students stay dry.

🌎 Language & Culture Lead - Help bring our school’s Spanish language and culture to life! 🇪🇸✨ * Help plan and coordinate fun cultural events and activities throughout the year. * Find creative ways to weave Spanish language, traditions and culture into school events. * Help make our celebrations, concerts and special events feel welcoming, colourful and memorable. * Take the lead on school decorations for holidays, concerts and special events. * Work with other council volunteers to create a school environment that celebrates culture and community.
📣 Key Communicator - Be the bridge between our school community and the CBE! Help keep our council and families in the loop by: * Representing EGS at Council of School Council (COSC) meetings (2–3 times per year). * Bringing back helpful updates, ideas and resources to our school council. * Helping strengthen connections between parents, our school and the CBE.
📚 Library & Literacy Lead - Help make reading contagious! 📖 * Coordinate and support our amazing library and literacy volunteers. * Help bring literacy initiatives and activities to life. * Support our two Book Fairs. * Organize our Holiday Reading Challenge and help keep kids excited about books—even when they’re on vacation! * Help create a school community where reading, stories and a love of learning are celebrated.

Let’s kick off the year with food, fun, and community spirit.
Enjoy a delicious meal from JRRR BBQ. Order through Healthy Hunger by September 11.
This is a cash-only fundraiser, and proceeds support exciting activities and supplies for our students. Volunteers are essential. Sign up through SignUp. All spots must be filled for the event to run.

🍽️HEALTHY HUNGER WEDNESDAY LUNCHES & SNACKS! 🍽️
Healthy Hunger provides a break for families from making full lunches on Wednesdays, with dedicated snacks or lunches delivered weekly, all the while supporting the school! Our first Healthy hunger lunch is on Wed, Sept 16th with different vendors on each Wednesday after that. Order must be placed before midnight on the Friday before.
SET UP/ORDER FOOD: Create or log in to your account through the Healthy Hunger website.
- Select Escuela Glenmeadows (note: the list is alphabetical look under 'E' not 'G')
- Include first name, last name, Escuela Glenmeadows and select grade from the drop down menu.
- Order from the list of options available for many weeks/months ahead
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
- Deadline to order is Friday 11:59pm for the following Wednesday
- Kinder students are eligible to order on snack days. Available snack days will populate automatically in the Healthy Hunger order for all kinder students
- Absent Students: If students are absent, food can be picked up SAME DAY. Food will not be kept past end of the day on day of delivery

If you're interested in volunteering for the Healthy Hunger program, we always welcome more volunteers to the pool! Considering joining us by signing up HERE. Volunteer commitment is flexible on dates - you pick what works for you, 45mins on Wednesdays 11:20-12pm.

🎰CASINO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🎰
Saturday November 7 & Sunday November 8
Every two years, Escuela Glenmeadows is granted a casino fundraising event. The funds support student programs, including residencies; sports, arts, STEM, and audiovisual equipment; a new gaga ball pit; and much more.
💰 This fundraiser raises more than $80,000 to support enriching opportunities for our students!
📅 Dates: Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8
📍 Location: Cowboys Casino (underground parking included)
⏰ Shifts: See the available shifts and sign up CASINO VOLUNTEERS
⏳ The volunteer list needs to be submitted to AGLC by mid-September, so please pick your shift early.
🤝 This is a great way to meet other EGS parents and enjoy some adult conversation!
🍽️ A meal at one of the onsite restaurants is provided for all volunteers.
✅ No casino experience is required. AGLC-mandated advisors will explain each role before the shift and provide support throughout the two-day event. The only requirement is valid identification.
