Celebrating Our Glenmeadows School Family

Ayer/Yesterday, our School Council, School Society members, and many wonderful volunteers hosted another amazing Welcome Back BBQ—and what a celebration it was!

Desde/From the Guacamayas and delicious food to fun activities, teachers vs. kindergarten student races, and laughter, there was something for everyone to enjoy. More importantly, it was a wonderful opportunity for our Glenmeadows School family to come together, reconnect, welcome new families, and build relationships beyond the classroom.

Throughout the evening, I heard so many families speak about how welcoming our school community feels and how our parents and volunteers help create a place where everyone feels included and connected. That sense of belonging does not happen by accident. It comes from vision, care, teamwork, and thoughtful planning by people who believe deeply in our school community.

Estamos/We are grateful for the opportunity to step away from the academic setting, spend time together, and simply enjoy being part of the Glenmeadows family. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and enthusiasm to make this special evening possible.

Bien hecho! What a wonderful way to celebrate our school family!

Teacher Committee Work

Esta tarde/This afternoon, we gave our teachers dedicated time to work on school committees, including Spanish, STEM/Technology, Physical Education and Wellness, Indigenous Education Professional Development, and whole-school events.

While this work may happen outside the classroom, its impact is very much felt inside the classroom.

Great schools are built not only through what happens during a lesson, but also through the professional thinking, collaboration, planning, and leadership that happens behind the scenes. Our committees give teachers an opportunity to share their expertise, develop ideas, strengthen programs, and create experiences that benefit students across the entire school.

Cuando/When teachers work together on Spanish and Language and Culture, they strengthen our school's identity and give students meaningful opportunities to develop language and cultural understanding. When teachers collaborate around STEM and technology, they help create opportunities for students to explore, question, create, problem-solve, and prepare for an ever-changing world. Work in Physical Education and Wellness supports students as whole people, recognizing that physical health, belonging, relationships, and well-being are important foundations for learning. Indigenous Education Professional Development helps us keep learning, reflecting, and building a deeper understanding of Indigenous histories, perspectives, and ways of knowing. Whole-school event planning creates the shared experiences that bring our community together and help students feel that they belong to something larger than their individual classroom.

Every committee meeting, every conversation, every idea, and every hour of thoughtful teacher collaboration can make a difference in a student's experience at school.

That is why teachers' work matters so much. What teachers do every day—both in front of students and behind the scenes—helps shape the school our students experience and the people they are becoming.

Neighbourhood Parking

A friendly reminder to all Glenmeadows School families to please follow the parking and traffic signs around our school and respect designated parking areas, fire lanes, bus zones, and neighbouring properties. These guidelines help keep our students, families, and community safe. Thank you for your cooperation and for being considerate members of our school community.
