Update

Dear families,

We wanted to update you on the timeline of the relocation of two modular units from your school.

On the morning of Sept. 9, after school starts, the modulars will be detached from the school and temporarily placed in the field. Both modulars will be relocated to their new home that night. Building and landscape restoration work will continue at the school until mid-October when all equipment and construction fencing will be removed, and the site will be reopened. The area where the modular classrooms are located will be covered with pavement, which will be safe for students, the school, and the community to use.

As school is back in session, we will continue to take measures to ensure the safety of students and community members who use the school site during construction. This includes measures such as keeping the construction area enclosed and working outside school hours when possible.  There will be a time on Monday when the principal will be keeping all students indoors to avoid any interaction with the crews working. Crews are working closely with school administration to ensure no work is being completed when students may be outdoors or when it impacts the school day.

Dear students and parents/guardians,

We would like to provide you with an update before summer break on the relocation of two modular units from Glenmeadows School. We anticipate that the work to remove the modulars from Glenmeadows School will begin this summer and be completed by the end of September. Safety measures will be taken to ensure the safety of students and community members who use the playground or school site while the installation occurs. This includes enclosing the construction area, scheduling work to avoid disrupting learning and operating within specific hours according to municipal bylaws.

Previous Communication from April 17, 2024

Dear parents/guardians,

The Government of Alberta has approved relocating two modular units from your school to Sir Winston Churchill High School, which urgently needs additional learning spaces.

In November, a letter was sent to parents/guardians explaining that CBE had requested the relocation of these modular units in the 2024-2025 Modular Classroom Program, which was submitted to the provincial government. That letter also explained the exceptional growth felt across many areas of our city. Relocating our modular units to Sir Winston Churchill High School will enable many more students in Calgary’s northwest to attend high school close to home.

Design work has already begun, and we anticipate the modulars will be removed this summer. You will continue to be updated as we receive more information.
