We have received CBE's budget for the next school year. I am pleased to share that we will be in good standing for staffing and resources.

Attrition in second-language programs is a concern; families leave the program over time for a multitude of personal reasons. Our school is no exception to this challenge.  Attrition has significant impacts, where class sizes have been smaller in grades 5 to 6 compared to grades 1 and 2.  The school administrative team and staff actively look for structures supporting equity across all grades for the next school year. Once we have finalized our proposals, we will share them with all families.

In mid-May, we teachers will take the time to create next year's class lists. I remind families that teachers and the school administrative team have accurate data and knowledge of students academically, socially, developmentally and all factors that affect student learning.  Classlists are complex, and we place much time and attention on this process.  Please know that students will have friends in their classrooms, but it may not be their best friend.  Also, please know that we do not take teacher requests from families, as our teachers are outstanding and professionally trained to support students in all areas!

In other news, on May 6, our grade 1 and 6 students will represent our school and music program at the Spanish bilingual interschool K-12 Jubilee Auditorium celebration.  It will be an exciting opportunity for our students to perform in front of thousands of Spanish bilingual program families and CBE senior leadership, including our Chief superintendent, Joe Pitman.

Tengan un lindo fin de semana!

 With gratitude,
