Esta semana/This coming week we will continue exploring and celebrating students' heritage, culture and identity through the Alberta Program of Studies. The Alberta Program of Studies incorporates heritage education within the Social Studies curriculum. Students explore topics like:

·         Canadian history and heritage include Canada's origins, significant world events, and the cultural mosaic that shapes society.

·         Local heritage: For example, Grade 4 students study Alberta's land, history, and stories, including its cultural and geographic diversity.

·         Indigenous perspectives: The curriculum integrates First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives to understand Canada's history comprehensively.

Nosotros apreciamos/We appreciate all parents who support the school and student learning by sharing their personal histories and stories with their children to make the Social Studies program increasingly personal, valuable and captivating for our students. Soon, we will create a beautiful Gleanmeadows School Heritage display where our student's heritage backgrounds are reflected.  If you have not had a chance to complete the class survey, you still have time:

grade 4 to 6 https://forms.gle/o9p5DTZGkHSZ1Ry68

Identity and inclusion are what makes our school proud, respectful and inclusive of diversity.  The display's title will be “Guest of this Land/Invitados de esta Tierra”.

El lunes/On Monday, our grade 5 and 6 students will present their Science Fare presentation to students from Kindergarten to grade 4.  Through this opportunity, students will learn and celebrate innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions to address real-world problems.

With gratitude,
