SABES QUE May 1, 2026
Ayer/Yesterday, we had students from kindergarten to grade 6 participate in our annual Escuela Glenmeadows School Science Olympics! All students moved from class to class, collaborating with classmates in colour teams to solve age-appropriate challenges. While engaged in their challenges, students demonstrated great creativity, problem-solving and achieved success in each task. I appreciate our teachers for creating fun, engaging STEM challenges. I am also appreciative of all the volunteers who came to support and cheer students on!
El martes/On Tuesday, our Grade 5/6 students attended the Crescent Heights High School Spanish Film Festival. Our school entered the Grade 5/6 elementary competition and won the Best Film Award! Congratulations to all the students who wrote the dialogue, directed, filmed, and acted in Las Chicas Espias/Spy Girls. A special mention goes to Sra. Fenske, who edited the final video.
El lunes/ On Monday, families of students currently in grades 4/5 will receive an invitation and information about a possible combined grade 5/6 classes. The invitation will be for Wednesday, May 13, at 6:30 pm in the school’s Learning Commons.
We missed posting this update last week from one of our grade 6 students regarding swimming. We hope you enjoy reading their perspective on the swimming program:
For the past 2 weeks as school students from grade 1 to 6 got to participate in the Killarney swim program which turned out to be a marvelous success. We noticed everyone was grinning from ear to ear and the joy from all students truly illuminated the pool with a magical atmosphere. All students received coaching from extremely experienced swimmers and learned new skills while having fun and lifelong stories.

RETURNING TO ESCUELA GLENMEADOWS SCHOOL?
We are currently planning for the 2026-2027 schoolyear and having accurate data about the number of students who will be attending Escuela Glenmeadows School next year is important, as this can have an impact on staffing and class configuration.
If you have a child(ren) who will not be returning to Glenmeadows School next year, please email Sra. Alanis (algreenberg@cbe.ab.ca). Thank you to those families who have already reached out to update us.
If your child is in grade 6, there is no need to email us.
STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP – SAFETY REMINDER
A reminder of following the rules and being aware of all students/families when dropping off or picking up your student(s) from school. There appears to be a growing number of families using the staff parking lot and alleyway beside as a drop-off/pick-up zone. With the warmer weather, more kids are walking and biking to school and are using these areas for school access.
HATS ON! FOR MENTAL HEALTH
Help us raise awareness about the importance of mental health in our school community! On Wednesday May 6, staff and students are invited to wear a hat to school to show their support. This day reminds us to take care of our feelings and be kind and supportive of others and is part of a national initiative in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association. Together, we can promote kindness, understanding, and positive mental health for all!
Thank you,
The Wellness Committee and the Social Committee
