Esta ultima semana/This past week our grade 1 and 6 students enthusiastically celebrated the Escuela Glenmeadows School Language and Culture Spanish bilingual program at the Jubilee auditorium through dances, songs and instrumentation from our Music program led by Sr. Casas.  Our grade 1 and 6 teachers also spent much time supporting the rehearsals and adding to the program with their unique talents.  A huge thank you to our parent volunteers who played the piano and guitar, and those who volunteered to supervise at this important event.  Over two thousand Spanish bilingual families from across the city were delighted by our and other school’s performances.  Once the CBE professional video recording of the event is completed, we will share the YouTube link for everyone to enjoy.

Pronto/Soon we will be engaging students in our last writing assessment to analyze where and how much students have progressed against the Alberta curriculum.  The writing should serve as a celebration and our best next steps for students for the next two months and the next school year.

Jueves/Thursday, May 22 is our Volunteer Tea at 11:15 am in the gymnasium.  “It takes a Village to raise a child” and we know we could not work without outstanding volunteer support.  Our school is what it is thanks to each one of you, whether it is by coming into the school or outside on a fieldtrip, taking things home to prep, organizing parent groups or evets, fundraising, etc., your work is valued and welcomed!   On this special volunteer event, we will have student performances, parent activities, and food brought in by each teacher to show you how much we appreciate you. We will have our grade 6 leadership students serving you, and you will have the company of other parents and staff members celebrating our collaborative work.  Please know that an email will be coming soon for you to RSVP with your intention to attend.

Solo hay/There is only one and half months left this school year!  CBE approved our school budget planning for next school year! Both Carmen and I are working on classroom designations, staffing, preparing teachers for class lists, looking at meeting Alberta/CBE mandated hours, as well as various school structures.  We will share much of this at the next May 20 School Council meeting, so please join us!

Tengan un lindo fin de semana/Have a beautiful weekend.

With gratitude,
